Our Quest for the Ideal Location to Forge Our Future

Securing a permanent headquarters for PTSD Dogs Australia is not just a milestone—it’s a game-changing opportunity that will launch our efforts to new heights! We’re thrilled to announce that we have successfully secured the property, and now we’re ready to develop a dedicated facility that will revolutionize our work with rescue dogs.

This space will allow us to expand our operations, enhance the quality of volunteer training, and provide temporary housing for veterans as they build life-changing bonds with their new furry companions.

With our media presence growing and the demand for our services skyrocketing, having a permanent base for PTSD Dogs Australia puts us in an ideal position to meet this burgeoning need with greater efficiency and effectiveness. To turn this exciting vision into reality, we need to raise a budget of $3 million. These funds will be crucial in constructing state-of-the-art facilities that align with our mission and vision.

Our founders have shown incredible commitment by personally pledging $1 million to this project, underscoring their dedication to our cause. However, we can’t do this alone! We need your support to bridge the financial gap and make this dream a reality. Together, we can create a significant impact for our veterans, our volunteers, and our rescue dogs, reaching unprecedented heights in our mission! Let’s make this happen!

Help us raise the $3million we need to acquire and establish our headquarters

Our ultimate headquarters;

We are excited to announce that we have secured a property in Cooroibah, just outside Tewantin on the beautiful Sunshine Coast.

Our envisioned headquarters will be an innovative and comprehensive facility set on an expansive acreage, conveniently located with easy access, ensuring our operations are reachable from all corners of Australia.

At the heart of our headquarters will is the main dwelling, serving as the residence for our dedicated caretakers and managers. Living on-site allows them to provide round-the-clock care for the animals, ensuring a level of commitment and personalized attention that truly sets us apart.

A standout feature of our facility will be a large, fully equipped, all-weather training arena. This space will be designed to accommodate group training sessions, allowing our programs to continue uninterrupted, regardless of the weather. Such versatility ensures that both the dogs and their handlers can adapt to a variety of situational factors, enhancing their resilience and readiness for real-world challenges.

We chose the Sunshine Coast not only for its accessibility but also for its temperate climate, which allows for year-round training in comfortable conditions. This advantageous climate significantly enhances the effectiveness of our training programs, ensuring that our assistance dogs are always prepared for service, no matter the season.

Looking ahead, we envision the property featuring several small units to house handlers during their intensive training periods with their dogs. These accommodations will foster an immersive and focused environment, further boosting the efficacy of our training efforts. In essence, our headquarters will be a harmonious blend of functionality, accessibility, and comfort, meticulously designed to uphold the highest standards of training and care for our assistance dogs and their devoted handlers.

Lady Nala

In its fully established form, our charity is set to play an instrumental role in strengthening and enriching our local community. While we highly value and appreciate the contribution of our volunteers, we anticipate creating job opportunities by employing more trainers and other staff members. This not only boosts the local economy but also inspires individual growth and development within our community.

Moreover, our mission to supply fully trained assistance dogs to first responder and military personnel has proven to significantly reduce suicide rates and decrease reliance on medications. This intervention promises a ripple effect of positive change in the community, fostering a healthier, safer environment for everyone. Research by the University of Kentucky found that for every death by suicide, another 135 lives are impacted.

Looking ahead, we envisage our accommodation units serving a dual purpose. Apart from housing handlers as they undergo intensive training with their dogs, these units could potentially provide temporary shelter for homeless veterans. This initiative serves as a testament to our pledge towards social responsibility, further cementing our commitment to the welfare of those who have selflessly served our nation.

In essence, our charity’s operations are not merely an isolated endeavour, but a collective effort towards community upliftment. By fostering employment, advocating mental health, and providing shelter for homeless veterans, we aim to contribute to a more vibrant, resilient, and compassionate community.

Benefits to the community

Our paramount aim is to continue as Australia’s premier organisation for the training and support of PTSD assistance dogs, and we envision Queensland as the cornerstone of this ambition. Queensland, renowned for its vibrant and supportive community, will serve as the nerve centre of our national operations.

Despite having a network of dedicated trainers stationed in Perth and Melbourne, we have strategically chosen Queensland’s Sunshine Coast as the hub of our specialised training. This decision not only recognises Queensland’s commitment to mental health and wellbeing, but also places us in the heart of a community that values and respects the important role of assistance dogs.

By choosing Queensland as our home, we are not just positioning ourselves in a geographically strategic location, but are also aligning with a community that is passionate about mental health support and the invaluable work of assistance dogs. We see this as a mutually beneficial relationship, where our presence will contribute to Queensland’s reputation as a leading advocate for mental health and assistance dog support.

Benefits to Queensland

Your investment in our initiative is not just a contribution—it’s a powerful catalyst for transformative change. Here’s how:

1. Creation of an Advanced Training Facility: Your funding will pave the way for the establishment of a state-of-the-art training facility, designed with specialised areas, classrooms, and housing for dogs in training. This dedicated property will be a breeding ground for excellence, where assistance dogs are trained to the highest standards, and where recipients can engage in training sessions tailored to their needs. As such, your contribution will directly impact the quality of training and care we provide.

2. Provision of Supportive Housing for Recipients: A vital part of our project involves the creation of short term housing for recipients undergoing team training with their assistance dogs. This supportive environment will be instrumental in fostering a smooth transition and promoting a strong bond between recipients and their new companions. Your investment will help build this safe haven, ensuring that the recipient-dog teams can thrive.

Your generosity, however, goes beyond bricks and mortar or the training of assistance dogs. It reaches into the hearts of Veterans and First Responders, their families, and their communities.

By endorsing our cause, you are gifting individuals the chance to reclaim their independence and enhance their quality of life. You are enabling them to experience the pure, unconditional love and support that only an assistance dog can provide. You are not just donating, you are igniting hope, fostering resilience, and contributing to a movement that reverberates with courage and compassion. Now, isn’t that a compelling cause to invest in?
