Assistance dog training starts early. Your donation will provide enrichment toys and training aids to boost our puppies' learning potential and give them the best start for a successful assistance dog career.
Assistance dog training is rigorous. Assistance dogs receive over 300 hours of training with qualified trainers before they're ready to be tested and certified. Your donation will help cover the costs associated with this training and the dog's placement with a veteran of the armed forces, police or emergency services suffering from PTSD.
Assistance dogs are for life. Veteran and assistance dog form a bonded team, however, some of our veterans need ongoing financial help keep their dogs in tip top condition - costs like veterinary care; monthly flea and heartworm treatment; and a healthy feeding regimen. Your donation will help ensure a dog can remain in service for its full working life.
Assistance dog training is expensive. It takes anywhere from $35,000 to $40,000 to certify a fully-qualified service dog. Your monthly donation will help cover the costs of credentialed trainers, boarding, feeding and medical treatment during the training period, as well as the costs associated qualifying veterans to receive an assistance dog.
