At PTSD Dogs Australia, we believe that you never have to walk alone when you have a trained PTSD Dog by your side. Our dogs are gentle, intuitive, intelligent, and full of unconditional love. They can provide you a sense of calm amidst turmoil, safety amid confusion, and comfort in sadness.
Our PTSD Dogs are trained in high-level tasks, and to meet the required skill level, they are trained on average for 20 hours per week for up to 10 months before they can be certified. Specialist dog training is a skilled profession that charges up to $75 per hour. There are also certification fees as well as day-to-day costs of housing and keeping our pawsome pals fit and healthy.
We also provide all handlers with a kit that includes a crate, jacket with ID, collar, bowls for food and water, leads, and training accessories. We do not charge our Veterans and First Responders for assistance dogs, so we need your support to keep our training programs viable to ensure that as many PTSD sufferers as possible get the life-changing assistance they need to live a full and prosperous life.
As a registered charity approved by the Australian Charities & Not For Profit Commission, all donations are tax deductible as approved by the Australian Tax Office.
Teddy
Donated by his breeder at 8 weeks of age as a desexed labradoodle, Teddy was, and still can be, an absolute cuddle bug. Very happy to chill with people, but also very interested in investigating the world around him. He is quite the willing worker and can do everything asked of him, always eager to learn. Being highly intelligent, he will also push for food if he thinks there is more. He enjoys a good wade at the beach when he’s not working.
Arlo
An 18 month old rescue groodle cross brought into the PTSD Dogs family as an adolescent. Arlo is a very willing worker for both food and a game. He will also let his trainer know if he is bored with what’s happening. Very laid back and chilled, Arlo is very confident about his world and every environment he enters. Arlo is in training to be paired with an airforce veteran.

Cobber
Arrived at 8 weeks of age as a desexed labradoodle puppy donation from his breeder. Cobber has come from being a reserved puppy to a fun-loving young boy who loves his walks at the beach, the more sand the better, foraging for scraps, and watching the world go by. Eager to learn and please, he will try whatever new ‘task’ is being asked of him and will surpass all expectations once he puts his mind to it.
